Well done John!

John, Gary, Tom and Julian all went to the Welsh Open this year with high expectations... Unfortunately we were not blessed with consistent conditions and there were only 3 complete rounds flown over the 2 days.
However, John managed to make the absolute best of it and was not only crowned Welsh Open Champion 2008 but also managed to scoop the Fastest Time of the Competition trophy as well with an exceptionally well flown 42 second run on the back of the Wrecker which is probably the hardest slope in Wales! Time to build some more shelves John!
Gary (37th), Tom (32nd) and Julian (40th) all donated their thermals to John! Big thanks to Kevin and Andrzej for organizing in difficult conditions (at least we had no rain!).

Gary decides to modify his Pike
In Gary's own words..

"Went up firle for a quick fly, had one
flight went ok so I landed and filled up with lead.
Threw
it off again, whizzing up and down got a bit low and close
to the fence.
The picture tells the rest of the story. The
wing is repairable but fuselage not much good.
At least the fuselage fitted in the boot on the way home!"
